Change needs stories – and the right dramaturgy!

Narratives, stories, films: they have a profound effect on us, bringing the unconscious to light and making the invisible tangible and perceptible. They convey ideas, values and visions. In doing so, they make the present discussable and the future visible. And every story needs a coherent dramaturgy.

Stories are important and can help us:

• They help convey visions and ideas within organisations.

• They bring hidden issues out of the shadows and onto the table.

• They make change negotiable – and therefore possible to develop.

"Culture is like an invisible melody that everyone dances to, but no one consciously hears."

Or: Culture is the script we act according to, but which no one has consciously read.

By consciously telling stories, we can make the invisible visible – in teams, organisations and within ourselves. This enables us to take action and bring about change.

We can ask ourselves the following questions:

• What is our history? (Identity)

• What should our future story be? (Vision)

• What is the appropriate course of action? (Strategy)

• How do the protagonists of the story act? (Tactics, structure & culture)

Stories are alive! They change with every retelling. They can be rewritten, reinterpreted and adapted for the future – for individuals, teams and organisations alike.

Hero's journey? Ensemble film? Comedy?

Every genre has its own dramaturgy, its own rules. Just as every organisation, every team or project needs its own dramaturgy – the right structure to break down barriers and enable development.

With my dramaturgical support, it becomes possible to use one's own narrative as a tool for change. In this way, I help people and their organisations to develop and embrace change.

Arrange a 20-minute introductory meeting and we will discuss how I can best support you.
